Lifeline Connect

Connect is an early intervention model for suicide prevention which aims to connect the community and improve social and emotional wellbeing. It aims to build a safety net for community members experiencing difficulties and/or crisis.

People can access Lifeline Counsellors without the need for a referral, without a mental health diagnosis and without needing to meet specific criteria.

Connect provides:

  • A clear “place to go for help” when crisis looms and things get to be too much.

  • Access to a volunteer-based community centre for easy, approachable, non-clinical face-to-face counselling with a trained professional.

  • A deeply well-informed data base of local services with strong pathways and relationships to tailor specific needs to the right supports.

  • Assistance with everyday tasks such as making phone calls to agencies, completing forms and accessing the internet

  • Quality training in accidental counsellor and gatekeeper skills – building community resilience and suicide prevention capacity

  • A space which fosters a positive and supportive environment, promoting social inclusion and community participation.

  • Welcoming, trained volunteers who connect and support socially isolated members of their community.

Volunteer at
Lifeline Connect

Lifeline Connect is a centre for people to gain information on services available in the community. Trained volunteers can offer information on a range of services and are available from 9 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday

The volunteers not only provide information but act as a low key 'triage' for service delivery agencies. An extensive database of service providers gives up to date information on services, programs and deliverers.

The centre also caters for training groups and workshops. All workshops are open to the public and free of charge.

We've Got Your Back

We’ve Got Your Back is a face-to-face, peer mental health and wellbeing support program in Far West NSW & North-East SA.

Lifeline Regional SA & Far West NSW and The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section partnered to pilot this campaign in Far West New South Wales in 2019. With carefully selected and trained locals as the Champions of We’ve Got Your Back, this effective partnership continues. We’ve Got Your back is funded by The NSW Ministry of Health.

We’ve Got Your Back introduces trained Champions to provide face-to-face support for rural people from the land, engaging in genuine conversations and listening with intent, providing advocacy on the needs of those impacted by drought, linking people to appropriate services, and going places that other services don’t.
